Welcome to the Rick Rack and Polka Dot blog,

The intent of this blog is to mutually share ideas and creations with my readers along with the joy that working with fabric can bring in helping us to unleash our creative sides.  With so many tools available today, the sky is the limit as far as sewing, quilting and machine embroidery capabilities.

In the patterns I design for my small business, Rick Rack and Polka Dots, my goal is to provide easy-to-follow sewing and quilting patterns that are informative, fun to make, and educational.  In addition, they are “simply sewn” and most patterns are ideal to use in a classroom setting.  I also teach a number of classes at the Quilt Crossing as well as a block of the month class called Stitcher’s Garden.  In addition, I teach private machine embroidery, sewing, and quilting lessons.

Upon retirement from corporate America, where I was a Program Manager at Hewlett-Packard Company, I became a part-time sales rep. for Bernina at the Quilt Crossing, my favorite quilt store in Boise, Idaho.  I’m the Tuesday “Bernina Babe” and love working with the our customers, the machines, fabric and the great staff at the Quilt Crossing.  It is a job I love to go to!

Today, my passion is sewing and quilting and with the new addition of our darling little granddaughters, I’ve once again become more interested in garment sewing as there are so many cute ideas and patterns for little ones.

I look forward to hearing from my readers as well and sharing ideas with them as we  explore all the wonderful fabrics, threads, notions, and abilities of our incredible sewing and embroidery machines.
