First off, I am the proud mother of two daughters, Alecia Dawn and Anna Marie, wife of my wonderful husband, Marv Sparrell, and now have the new title of “Nana” to our darling granddaughters, Belén Rose and Eloise Mae.
When I was very young, my Grandma Sveen first introduced me to a needle and thread when she taught me how to embroider on dish towels. Soon I was hand sewing doll clothes and then, after learning how to sew on a machine in home economics, I began to make my own clothing. My first two big purchases when I finished college were my Bernina 830 sewing machine and a Datsun 1200 car. I wish I had an odometer on my 830 as it was used to make clothes for our wedding, our children, my husband, home decorator items, and still is a workhorse in my sewing room today.
Upon retirement from corporate America, I became a part-time sales rep. for Bernina at the Quilt Crossing, my favorite quilt store in Boise, Idaho. I’m the Thursday “Bernina Babe” and love working with the our customers, the machines, fabric and the great staff at the Quilt Crossing. It is a job I love to go to!
Today, my passion is sewing and quilting and with the new addition of our darling little granddaughters, I’ve once again become more interested in garment sewing as there are so many cute ideas and patterns for little ones.
The intent of this blog is to mutually share ideas and creations with my readers along with the joy that working with fabric can bring in helping us to unleash our creative sides.
I look forward to hearing from my readers as well and sharing ideas with them as we continue to explore all the wonderful fabrics, threads, notions, and abilities of our incredible sewing and embroidery machines.
Happy sewing!!!
