It’s hard to believe that the 2014/2015 school year is finished. As I strolled around the College of Idaho campus this afternoon, it was so calm and quiet now that the students have finished the school year. The grounds are beautiful and it was a gorgeous day.
There is something exhilarating about being on campus. As I neared the Kathryn Albertson International Center (KAIC) Building, I had a sense of excitement because today I was there to set up my classroom for this year’s quilting classes for C of I’s first Summer Program.
As I entered the building and began to ascend the stairs, I felt welcomed by the light that was streaming from the Shannon Lounge, which is also our classroom.
After meeting with Nicole Brown, the Summer Program Coordinator, and finalizing the room layout, I brought in classroom supplies. Now everything is good to go when classes begin next Monday.
We also checked outlets to insure we had enough power strips and extension cords to provide power to the students’ machines. It is so nice to have lots of windows that provide great light and a nice view. Another feature is that each student will have her own design wall to work with when she is laying out her fabrics. It really is a GREAT classroom environment!
Last, but not least, Nicole and I took a quick walk across campus to pick up the t-shirts for all the students and instructors. Each student will receive a complementary purple Summer Program t-shirt on their first day of class. Nicole asked me to model one so she could see how I liked it. It’s a welcome addition to my summer wardrobe.
If you are interested in signing up for the quilting classes, there is still room available in the Beginner Strip Quilting Class (3 sessions – from 6-9 p.m. on June 8, 22, and July 6th) and the Intermediate Spinning Windmill Paper Piecing Class (2 sessions on July 20 and August 3). All these classes are held on Monday evenings from 6-9 p.m. in the Shannon Lounge at the College of Idaho campus. You can register online by clicking on this link.
More information is available in a previous blog on this summer’s classes.
Please note that there have been a couple date changes from the original class dates.
Parking is ample and free in the Special Events Parking lot (#26 on the map – on the south side of the campus). From there, it is a quick walk to the KAIC Building (Building #6 on the map). We will send campus maps to all registered students along with class supply lists and updates. Cindy’s Quilt Shop in Caldwell has graciously offered to give our students a 10% discount on all supplies and fabric. You simply need to show a copy of your registration paperwork. Cindy has a lovely store and great fabric selection not far from the campus.
There is still time to enroll as registration is open until the first class session for each class.
I am so VERY excited about this fun opportunity and know it is going to be a very exciting summer.
Hope you are enjoying your summer too!
